Terms and Conditions

The Terms and Conditions, as set out below, are held by our Primary Supplier (TRRC) and extended to any customer that purchases a PrO Pre-owned device in South Africa. 

1. OBF (OUT OF BOX FAILURE) AND WARRANTY

  • OBF relates to an “out of box failure”, where a device is found to be technically faulty, within seven (7) days of purchase.  Should the device meet the OBF criteria, your device will be replaced with the same model and grade as the device you originally purchased. If no stock is available of the same device and grade, TRRC reserves the right to either refund you or replace it with a similar device of the same or greater value.

  • An OBF must be returned to TRRC within the seven (7) days of purchase, with the original tax invoice, original packaging and all accompanying accessories.  Whilst we do our best to expedite the OBF process and evaluation, it will take no longer than seven (7) working days for the OBF to be approved or rejected. 

  • A warranty refers to mechanical or electrical manufacturing faults on the device which occur within a twelve-month period from the date of purchase.  Should your device comply with the warranty terms and conditions set out by the Supplier (TRRC), your device will be repaired under warranty by TRRC. TRRC reserves the right to use both original and third-party components to conduct these repairs, which they deem reasonable to complete the repair

  • The battery in your device has a three (3) month warranty from the date of purchase. Depending on the model or grade of the device, it will have a minimum “battery health” capacity of between 70% and 100%. The battery warranty period may be extended on certain devices; this is dependent on the device model or grade purchased. Please refer to your tax invoice for confirmation of this.

  • Depending on the nature of the repair, a turn-around time of up to 14 working days will apply to all in-warranty repairs. If particular components are needed, and which are out of stock, there might be further delays in the repair process, TRRC reserves the right to then use certified pre-owned or third-party components.

  • For both OBF and warranty claims, you will need to present the original tax invoice. The device will be subject to an inspection to rule out any damage or abuse which would void the claim.  The device must be returned in its original undamaged packaging, together with all accessories that accompanied the device at the time of the sale. 

  • Incomplete details supplied on the book-in form for either a OBF or warranty repair, could result in the request being declined and may cause unnecessary delays for which TRRC cannot be held liable.  Please ensure that all contact details are correct

  • Pro devices cannot be exchanged or refunded if there is any form of physical damage present. 

  • If your device is booked in for a repair or replacement parts, under the terms of this warranty, the terms of this agreement does not provide the right to an extension or renewal of the warranty period.  Moreover, the time taken for repairs / replacement and any time in transit, whether under the warranty or otherwise, shall not be excluded from the warranty period. 

  • This warranty is not transferable and is confined to the first purchaser of the product only. 

  • TRRC and its supplier reserve the right to retain any part/s or component/s replaced at its discretion in the event of a defect noticed in the equipment during the warranty period. 

2. DATA LOSS AND “FIND MY IPHONE” or “FIND MY PHONE”

  • Your device may need to be restored to its original factory settings to complete the repair and calibration.  It is imperative that you back-up your device so that no data is lost. Neither PrO Pre-owned nor TRRC can be held liable for any data loss on a device submitted to them for evaluation, repair or replacement.

  • To enable us to restore your phone to its factory settings, you will need to remove or sign out of all accounts, in addition to turning off the “FIND MY IPHONE” or “FIND MY PHONE” features. 

  • Additionally, if the device is DOA (dead on arrival), cannot be turned on or the screen display does not work, you will need to use a different device to sign into iCloud or Google to disable the location features, as well as send the store confirmation.  If you are unsure of the deactivation process, please ask the consultant to assist you, and to supply you with the process details. 

  • No device will be accepted for repair or claim if “FIND MY IPHONE” or “FIND MY PHONE” remains active on the device. 

3. RETURN OR REFUND

  • You may return any unopened PrO Pre-owned device within seven (7) working days of purchase.  We will give you a full refund, or product exchange or a product of the same value, provided you present the original tax invoice and there is no evidence of physical or intentional damage caused to the device and its packaging.  

  • The IMEI number on the device that is being returned must match the IMEI number on the tax invoice.

  • If the device qualifies as an OBF (out of box failure), or meets the warranty criteria, TRRC may, at its discretion, choose to either repair or replace the device. 

  • Please note that refunds are issued at the discretion of PrO Pre-owned and TRRC. The completion of a refunds may take up to 5-10 working days from the date of submission. 

The following is not covered by the warranty:

  • Any form of physical damage on the device, including nicks, dents and scratches, no matter how minor they may be.  (This is because internal damage may be caused by any form of dropping or impact).

  • Liquid damage.

  • Power surges due to a power cut or restoration whilst charging, as well as voltage fluctuations.

  • Blacklisting of the device.

  • Security codes – if you forget your security access codes.

  • Data loss

  • Factory resets performed by the customer as there is a possibility that this may have been performed incorrectly.

  • Any damage as a result of a repair performed by a third-party repair centre that is not TRRC.

  • Any unauthorised third-party apps or unauthorised manipulation or alteration of the device operating system.

  • Physically damaged accessories.

  • Wear and tear.

  • Accidental damage.

  • Acts of God, lightning, water, fire, or any cause beyond the control of TRRC or its supplier.

  • Damaged or swollen battery due to overcharging.

  • The serial number or IMEI number on the device has been removed / altered / deleted or made illegible.

  • The IMEI number on the device does not match the IMEI number on the invoice or the outer casing or SIM holder of the device.
